You’ve probably come here from the YouTube video above for the details on how to have the same experience (or at least some parts of it). So let’s not give you the classic recipe blog life story and get straight to it!

The Van

We booked Wilson (who lives in Bristol, UK) on www.quirkycampers.com (not sponsored or affiliated). No specific reason for picking Wilson, other than he looked cool and was within budget. We chose quirky campers because Becky rented out her van with them in the past, but there are many other rental sites you can browse. We picked up Wilson at 09:00 on Friday and returned him 18:00 on Sunday. Owners if you’re reading this, you are bloody lovely! :)

Admin - you will need a driving licence and two other documents of proof of address, these have to be sent to the owners. Quirky Campers won't tell you that.

Duration: 2 nights

Rental Price: £225 (rentals are usually cheaper in the winter)

Holding deposit: £500

Fuel: £93.44

Total miles driven: 386~

Itinerary

Waterfall Walk carpark | Route on komoot

Camping spot first night

Strumble Head Lighthouse carpark

Skomer Island Deer Park carpark

Camping spot second night*

*Be aware there is a steep hill and sharp bend to get in and out of this spot. We were fine in Wilson but if you’re not a confident driver or in a larger van then maybe give this one a miss. This spot is also right next to a grave yard (spooky!), but we didn’t hear anything go bump in the night.

Free app used for finding camping spots - park4night (not sponsored or affiliated)

Food

We pre made breakfast, lunch and dinner so there was no additional cost with food. Unfortunately we can’t give recommendations for any restaurants or shops because we didn’t even look.

Additional costs

Parking at the Deer Park for Skomer Island £5

Total costs

£323.44

Happy trecking!
